An 880-year-old bed and breakfast has gone viral after implementing a Gen Z marketing strategy. Fyfield Manor, located near Wallingford in Oxfordshire, shared a TikTok video on Monday with the caption: "When you ask your Gen Z daughter to write the marketing script." The video, which describes the B&B as "giving zen" and "very demure," has garnered 9.4 million views.
The mother-daughter duo behind the video expressed their astonishment at the response. Frannie Brown, 26, was inspired by similar videos on TikTok showcasing humorous interactions with older generations. She pitched the idea to her mother, Christine, who welcomed the fresh approach after years of running the B&B. Christine noted the need to attract a younger audience, as most of their visitors are from older generations.
Christine humorously describes the B&B's features, stating it has "understood the assignment" and emphasizes its age with "no cap." She playfully refers to a medieval dining room as having "so much rizz." Despite not fully understanding the terminology, Christine embraced the creative direction and was surprised by the positive reception.
Having operated the B&B for 25 years, she noted that younger guests have started visiting after seeing previous TikTok content. The video concludes with Christine saying, "Whether you need to recover from a brat summer or menty b - this is the place for you. Slay!"
