Two people have been hospitalized following a fairground ride failure and crash in Birmingham, according to the West Midlands Fire Service.
Emergency responders, including officers and paramedics, arrived at Centenary Square around 7:30 PM on Thursday after the ride dropped to ground level while still in operation.
The fire service confirmed that the incident involved a fairground ride that malfunctioned and crashed, causing it to fall to the ground during use.
Thirteen individuals received treatment at the scene, though none had life-threatening injuries.
A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service stated that two women, who sustained non-serious injuries, were transported to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. Nine women and two men were assessed and discharged with advice for self-care.
According to the BBC, a witness observed several injured girls walking away from the area.
The witness also reported seeing one girl with a facial injury.
The fire service clarified that no further rescue efforts were being made at the scene.
