Bugatti, known for its unparalleled luxury and innovation, has crafted its first-ever cupholder exclusively for a single client. This bespoke design highlights the brand's commitment to personalization and attention to detail, catering to the unique preferences of its elite customers. The creation of this one-of-a-kind accessory reflects Bugatti's dedication to blending functionality with luxury, setting new standards in automotive customization.
A Bugatti Chiron owner requested a cupholder, prompting Bugatti designer Frank Heyl’s team to create a solution.
Despite Bugatti's W-16 hypercars being capable of reaching 282 mph with the roof down, they lack cupholders, which became an issue for one Chiron owner. She had spilled a drink in her car's door card sleeve while driving. This posed a problem, especially in a vehicle priced in the low seven figures. Bugatti decided to address the issue by designing its first-ever cupholder.
As a low-volume manufacturer, Bugatti is well-equipped to address such challenges. The design team quickly got to work on a cupholder retrofit for a Chiron already on the road, and the design is now set for its debut in January.
In a brief Instagram video, Frank Heyl revealed the prototype, which fits seamlessly into the existing door card sleeve without the need for tools. The prototype features two cupholder sizes, one suitable for a water bottle and the other for a Red Bull can, with the colors matching the car’s specification and the owner’s name in pink.
Heyl explained that the cupholder will be 3D-printed as a prototype and should be ready for installation in the owner’s car by January. This could open up a new avenue for Bugatti, potentially creating a niche business for retrofitting cupholders in high-end vehicles for owners who enjoy both performance and the convenience of a drink holder.
