Game halted after 41 deliveries due to heavy rainfall in Taunton

The game in Taunton was suspended after only 41 deliveries due to torrential rain. The inclement weather disrupted play, prompting officials to call off the match for safety reasons. This unexpected interruption shortened what was anticipated to be a full-length game.

Pakistan 29 for 0 (Shamas 18*, Ameen 7*) versus England - no result

Continuous rain throughout the afternoon in Taunton allowed for only 41 deliveries in the second Women's ODI between England and Pakistan.

Following more than three hours of delayed inspections, the umpires made a final assessment at 3 pm, leading to the official abandonment of the match.

During the limited play, Pakistan, sticking with an unchanged lineup and choosing to bat first after winning the toss, reached 29 for 0. Sadaf Shamas remained unbeaten on 18 from 28 balls, while Sidra Ameen was on 7 from 13 deliveries.

However, both players had their share of luck during this brief period. Ameen survived being caught on 1 by Sophie Ecclestone at first slip off a quick delivery from Lauren Filer. Similarly, Shamas escaped a tough chance to Danni Wyatt at point when she was on 12, also off Filer's bowling.

Wyatt, returning to the team after missing the first ODI due to illness, replaced legspinner Sarah Glenn in the middle-order, being the sole change from the squad that won the previous match by 37 runs.

Sophia Dunkley, excluded from both England's T20I and ODI squads against Pakistan due to a slump in batting form, earned a call-up to the squad for the second match. Her inclusion followed impressive performances in the 50-over Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, including a century, a fifty, and an unbeaten 48 for South East Stars.

Although initially named at No. 12 for the Taunton match, Dunkley may vie for a spot in the series decider in Chelmsford on Wednesday.
