Harrods Aviation has earned the first IS-BAH Stage 3 certification in the UK, marking a significant achievement in business aviation safety and quality. This top-level certification acknowledges Harrods Aviation's adherence to the highest standards of safety management and operational excellence, underscoring their commitment to exceptional service in the aviation industry.
Harrods Aviation has attained Stage 3 registration under IBAC’s International Standard for Business Aviation Handling (IS-BAH), becoming the first company in the UK to achieve this level at both its London Luton and Stansted airport locations.
Introduced in 2014, IS-BAH is an audit-based certification process that mandates companies to integrate safety management systems (SMS) into their operations. After each audit, the company must demonstrate compliance with the next level’s requirements before scheduling the subsequent audit.
Dan Holian, Harrods' Director of Operations, noted that their IS-BAH journey, which began in 2016, has significantly improved their Safety Management System. He praised the IS-BAH framework for its effectiveness in developing a robust safety system and encouraged other FBOs to adopt it, especially with upcoming ground handling regulations.
This achievement adds Harrods Aviation to the list of 36 ground handlers worldwide with IS-BAH Stage 3 certification.
IS-BAH Program Director Terry Yeomans remarked that Harrods has effectively built on their previous Stage 1 and Stage 2 achievements, demonstrating a strong safety culture in meeting the criteria for Stage 3 registration.
