Head of Russian space agency says work under way on modernised Angara rocket

The head of the Russian space agency announced that work is progressing on a modernized Angara rocket. This development aims to enhance the capabilities and efficiency of the rocket, aligning with Russia's goals to advance its position in the global space exploration arena.

Yury Borisov, the head of Russia's Roscosmos state space agency, announced on Wednesday that Russia is in the process of developing a modernized Angara-A5M rocket capable of launching manned spacecraft. Borisov stated that the rocket, equipped with a more powerful propulsion engine, is currently under construction by order of Roscosmos. The Angara-A5M is slated for launch in 2027 and is expected to serve as the primary vehicle for deploying next-generation manned spacecraft and modules into orbit.

Borisov was speaking in an online meeting chaired by President Vladimir Putin.
