On Monday, the Fashion Group International (FGI) hosted its Rising Star Award ceremony luncheon event for 2024 in New York City, where the inaugural Future Fashion award for students, in collaboration with Macy’s, was presented for the first time. The recipient of this prestigious award was Fatmata Camara, a student at LIM College.
FGI's Rising Star Awards aim to shine a spotlight on emerging designers, providing them with increased visibility in the industry. The ceremony took place on New York City’s Upper East Side.
This year, FGI partnered with Macy’s for the event, introducing the inaugural Future Fashion award. This award seeks to recognize an outstanding junior or senior student enrolled in a fashion merchandising program at one of the universities in FGI’s higher education network.
Candidates are evaluated based on their passion, insightful analysis, creativity, and forward-thinking vision, distinguishing them as rising stars in the realm of fashion merchandising.
In addition to the prestigious title of winning the first Future Fashion Award, Fatmata Camara, a fashion merchandising student at LIM College, was also awarded 1,000 euros to support her studies.
The guest of honor at the Rising Star Awards luncheon 2024 was Ken Downing, the creative director of Halston fashion brand and CEO at Xcel Brands.
