McCain Foods has completed its acquisition of Strong Roots, a company known for its plant-based frozen foods. This acquisition is expected to strengthen McCain Foods' position in the growing market for healthy, sustainable food options.

McCain Foods has successfully acquired Strong Roots, an Irish plant-based frozen food manufacturer, following their strategic partnership initiated in 2021, which involved a $55 million investment.

Specializing in simple, real food that prioritizes sustainability and health, Strong Roots offers a variety of vegetable-based dishes, including meals, sides, and snacks. This acquisition aligns with McCain's commitment to providing high-quality, sustainable food to customers worldwide and expands their portfolio to meet the growing demand for healthier, natural meal options.

By integrating Strong Roots into their operations, McCain aims to introduce the brand to new regions and offer more eco-friendly, vegetable-focused products. This move reflects their dedication to catering to consumers seeking healthier, simpler meal choices.

Jillian Moffatt, regional president of McCain GB and Ireland, highlighted the investment's alignment with McCain's sustainability goals, emphasizing the shared vision and values between the two companies.

Peter Dawe, chief growth and strategy officer at McCain Foods, expressed excitement about accelerating growth and expanding the availability of natural, simple meals to retail and foodservice markets.

Samuel Dennigan, founder and CEO of Strong Roots, emphasized the brand's commitment to sustainability and innovation, expressing enthusiasm for bringing their products to a wider audience.

Under the leadership of CEO Charlotte Turton, Strong Roots will continue to operate as a distinct business, with Samuel Dennigan remaining involved to drive portfolio innovation and brand growth.
