Nestlé is broadening its culinary range by introducing high-protein products in key markets. This expansion includes specially developed solutions under new brands and ongoing innovation within its existing brands.
Recently, Nestlé launched high-protein foods aimed at GLP-1 users and individuals focused on weight management through its Vital Pursuit brand. A standout product is the Vermont White Cheddar Mac & Broccoli Bowl, featuring pasta made with pea protein, balancing flavor and texture.
The Vital Pursuit line includes 14 tasty frozen meals in various formats, such as sandwiches, pizzas, and bowls. These meals are crafted by a team of chefs, nutritionists, and experts at Nestlé's R&D center in Solon, Ohio, ensuring they are high in protein and composed of nutrient-dense ingredients like vegetables and whole grains. All items are now available at major retailers across the United States.
In India, Nestlé has introduced Maggi Nutri-licious Chatpata Besan Noodles, which are high in protein and fiber. This new product utilizes locally sourced chickpea flour, known as 'Besan,' as a key ingredient for the first time.
Food scientists at Nestlé's Indian R&D center employed their culinary expertise and a unique method to mitigate the bitterness and astringency of chickpeas while maintaining excellent texture, taste, and aroma. The result is a nutritious and flavorful Besan noodle dish that Indian consumers can enjoy from a beloved brand.
Nikhil Chand, head of Nestlé's food strategic business unit, emphasized that while taste remains a priority, the company continually innovates to address evolving dietary preferences across various markets, including India and the U.S., through both established brands like Maggi and newer offerings like Vital Pursuit.
Swen Rabe, leading Nestlé's product technology center for food in Singen, Germany, stated that adequate protein intake is essential for a balanced diet, as individuals have varying protein needs based on life stage and dietary preferences. Nestlé is committed to developing products that incorporate higher protein levels, catering to specialized nutrition, affordability, and enhancing flavors in their core brands.
