Rice processing facility inauguration in Quirino province

The inauguration of a new rice processing facility in Quirino province marks a significant milestone for local agriculture. This state-of-the-art facility aims to enhance rice production efficiency, improve the quality of the grains, and support local farmers. It is expected to boost the regional economy and contribute to food security, ensuring that communities have access to high-quality rice products.

On September 12, the Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Philippine Centre for Postharvest Development and Mechanisation, officially opened a new rice processing facility in Quirino province. This facility is complemented by the transfer of various agricultural machinery valued at P96 million, aimed at enhancing the productivity and financial stability of local farmers.

The newly inaugurated rice processing facility consists of a modern rice mill and advanced dryers, specifically allocated to the Diffun Saranay and Development Cooperative. This cooperative represents a collective of 2,320 farmers who together cultivate a substantial 3,502 hectares of rice paddies.

With the introduction of this advanced equipment, farmers in Quirino are expected to significantly improve the quality of rice they produce while ensuring that prices remain affordable. This initiative not only aims to elevate the standards of rice production but also focuses on increasing the income of farmers, thereby supporting the local economy and enhancing the livelihoods of agricultural workers in the region.
