Schaeffler reveals its latest hybrid scooter concept at the EICMA show on November 5, aiming to redefine urban mobility with sustainable innovation. This debut highlights Schaeffler’s commitment to advanced transportation solutions and eco-friendly technology, demonstrating how hybrid engineering can transform everyday commuting. The scooter concept is expected to draw interest from industry professionals and eco-conscious consumers alike.
Schaeffler is set to unveil a hybrid scooter concept created in collaboration with scooter manufacturer Kymco. Kymco brought its mechanical integration expertise to the project, while Schaeffler contributed its control system knowledge, strengthened by its merger with Vitesco. Additionally, Schaeffler will showcase new solutions for both electric two-wheelers and motorcycles powered by combustion engines.
At EICMA 2024, Schaeffler, a German mobility and component giant, will debut its two-wheeler portfolio, marking its first showcase at this event. Held in Milan from November 7-10, with early access for press and trade visitors, Schaeffler’s booth will highlight its latest innovations under the theme "Mind. Set. Future." Featured solutions include powertrains, control units, and sensors, aimed at advancing electrification and connectivity trends in the two-wheeler market.
The extensive portfolio spans chainless drives for e-bikes, low-voltage electric scooters, and efficient combustion engine components for motorcycles. Matthias Zink, Schaeffler’s CEO of Powertrain & Chassis, noted the significant growth potential in the two-wheeler segment, expected to exceed 80 million units by 2030, with electric two-wheeler production projected to reach 30 million annually by then.
Schaeffler will unveil a hybrid scooter developed with Kymco, featuring two electric drive control units and advanced torque management technology. Solutions for both low- and high-voltage vehicles, such as a 48-volt e-scooter system and a high-powered side-by-side vehicle (SSV), will also be on display, showcasing Schaeffler’s modular and scalable electrification offerings.
In addition to electrification, Schaeffler is addressing connectivity demands with integrated digital solutions, allowing real-time data on maintenance, fuel consumption, and location. The company remains committed to enhancing internal combustion engine efficiency, recognizing continued relevance in motorcycles. At EICMA, a KTM offroad motorcycle will exhibit Schaeffler’s engine management system, underscoring its ongoing investment in fuel-efficient and emission-reducing technologies for traditional motorcycles.
