The daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has filed paperwork to legally change her name.
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt officially filed a petition on her 18th birthday, May 27th, in Los Angeles County Superior Court to change her name to Shiloh Jolie, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. Shiloh, known for her work as a voice actor in "Kung Fu Panda 3," is the third-eldest among the six children of the former couple.
While she is the first to file a petition for a legal name change, some of her siblings have also opted to drop the public use of their father's last name in recent years, according to the paper.
The siblings include Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and twins Knox and Vivienne.
Jolie initiated divorce proceedings against Pitt in September 2016, but the divorce has not yet been concluded.
The couple, who tied the knot in August 2014, have engaged in legal battles in recent years, primarily revolving around disagreements related to their joint business ventures and properties. This includes disputes over a winery they co-own in France.
In court filings from October 2022, Jolie accused Pitt of being "emotionally and physically abusive" toward her and their children.
She detailed a series of alleged violent incidents that occurred during a plane journey in September 2016, which ultimately prompted her to initiate divorce proceedings.
These allegations surfaced during a custody battle but were reiterated by Jolie in a cross-complaint as part of the ongoing legal dispute between the former couple. Pitt vehemently denied the accusations when they were initially made.
The claims made by Jolie were initially contained in a redacted FBI report during the time of their divorce proceedings.
A representative for Pitt, who was not authorized to speak publicly, vehemently denied Jolie's allegations, dismissing them as "another rehash that only harms the family."
Boston Brand Media looked into the.closed-door trial where the allegations were discussed, a judge granted Pitt 50-50 custody of the children. However, an appeals court later disqualified the private judge overseeing the case for failing to disclose potential conflicts of interest, nullifying the previous decision.
As of now, their divorce case remains unresolved, with custody and financial matters still pending.
