Top 5 Longest 1-Stop Airbus A321 Flights: Up to 4,100+ Nautical Miles

Explore the top five longest one-stop Airbus A321 flights, with routes extending over 4,100 nautical miles. This list highlights unique destinations and the distances covered, showcasing the impressive range of the Airbus A321. Whether you're an aviation enthusiast or planning your next journey, discover the longest flights available this November and what makes each route noteworthy for travelers.

Any conversation about the widely-used Airbus A321 typically centers on its neo, LR, and XLR variants. While details may still change, the XLR is set to launch its first revenue-generating flight on October 28.

Iberia, the launch customer, will first operate the XLR on routes from Madrid to London Heathrow and Paris CDG for familiarization purposes before introducing flights to Boston in November and Washington Dulles in January. These flights are part of the eight known XLR routes as of October 16, which also include Aer Lingus routes to Nashville and Minneapolis, as well as Wizz Air flights from Milan to Abu Dhabi and London Gatwick to Jeddah.

TAP Air Portugal stands out as the primary airline connecting Europe and Brazil. Based on OAG schedule data, TAP accounts for 28% of November flights. As the 171-seat A321LR becomes more prevalent, it will represent only a quarter of the available seats. TAP has a history with Manaus, having operated a three-times-weekly non-stop service using a 268-seat A330-200 between June 2014 and February 2016. On November 4, 2024, TAP will resume service to the Amazonas capital, now utilizing the A321LR. This development will be featured in my upcoming article on busy flight routes!

The flight schedule is as follows, with all times in local time. Including the layover in Belém, the total travel time to Manaus will be 11 hours and 45 minutes:

  • Lisbon to Belém: TP51, 10:35-15:50 (8h 15m)
  • Belém to Manaus: TP51, 16:50-18:20 (2h 30m)
  • Manaus to Belém: TP52, 19:50-23:20 (2h 30m)
  • Belém to Lisbon: TP52, 00:20-11:10 (7h 50m)
