Art at the Airport
As the epicenter of country music, it’s no surprise that Nashville International Airport (BNA) is on this list.
Art at the Airport is a non-profit organization established in 1988 that showcases cultural diversity and creative talent from the state of Tennessee.
The airport features several dining venues, such as Tootsies Orchid Lounge and Ole Red, that frequently host live music, along with multiple stages throughout the airport itself.

In 2023, Nashville International Airport processed over 22 million passengers, with flights to destinations across the US, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Additionally, international services are on the rise, including new routes planned for 2025 from Aer Lingus and Icelandair to Dublin (DUB) and Reykjavík (KEF), respectively.
The Live Music Capital of the World
Austin promotes itself as The Live Music Capital of the World, and this is reflected at its airport, which features a diverse program ranging from solo acoustic performances to full bands.
Since 1999, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) has hosted over 17,000 live music events, with more than 15 shows each week.
Currently, there are eight stages throughout the airport where performances occur from Monday to Friday.

Similar to Nashville, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport served around 22 million passengers in 2023, providing a substantial audience for live music.
Southwest Airlines holds the largest market share at the airport with 41%, followed by American Airlines (18%) and Delta Air Lines (13%).
However, American Airlines has recently cut several routes from Austin, which may affect these figures.
The busiest domestic routes last year included Atlanta (ATL), Dallas (DFW), and Denver (DEN), each exceeding 500,000 passengers.
For international travel, the top three routes were to London (LHR), Cancún (CUN), and San José del Cabo (SJD).
In the summer of 2024, London Heathrow Airport partnered with Sofar Sounds to launch a new music stage called Heathrow Introducing.
Located in Terminal 5, this stage featured performances from artists like folk singer-songwriter The Halfway Kid, acoustic rock band China Bears, and RnB artist Olivia Nelson, who was recognized as an Emerging Talent Runner Up at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival.
These performances coincided with what would become London Heathrow Airport's busiest day ever—June 30, 2024—when over 260,000 passengers traveled through.
At the time, the airport's Director of Services, Tonia Fielding, praised the initiative, stating,
"Heathrow has long been hailed as the UK’s gateway to the world. We’re proud that we’re providing people from around the globe the chance to experience the best of Britain’s emerging musical talent and a taste of UK culture from the moment they reach the airport, while helping British talent supercharge their careers at the same time."
Meanwhile, Sofar Sounds, which has previously hosted gigs for prominent artists like Ed Sheeran and Hozier, remarked,
"The Heathrow Introducing stage isn't just about providing entertainment; it's about propelling careers to new heights. It’s a game-changer for those aiming to break into the industry, especially with festival season at its peak, offering exposure to execs traveling through the hub – you can only get this at Heathrow."
