Producers of the world's largest beer brands are also some of the largest overall beverage producers in the world. In 2020, beer-producing companies took two of the top five spots in a ranking of the top-selling companies in the global beverage market. Anheuser-Busch InBev, and Heineken N.V. ranked first and fifth, respectively on this list. Both companies have had to tackle the decline in beer worldwide. AB-InBev's revenue was already declining but took a substantial hit in the first year of the pandemic. Heineken's revenue trend was fairing better but was equally impacted by the pandemic.
Anheuser-Busch InBev
Anheuser-Busch InBev was by far the largest brewer in the world in 2020, producing over 467 million hectoliters of beer, more than double the amount Heineken produced that year. With a diverse beer brand portfolio, including the most valuable beer brand in the world, Budweiser, Anheuser-Busch InBev captured the largest share of the global beer market based on volume sales in 2020. AB InBev owns other popular global brands such as Bud Light, Stella Artois, and Corona.
Heineken
In a ranking of leading beer companies worldwide in 2021, Heineken Holding ranked second in sales. Heineken International is a Dutch brewing company. Headquartered in Amsterdam, they produce over 300 different brands of beer around the world. Heineken is the second most valuable beer brand worldwide while the company's Mexican brand, Tecate ranked eighth.
