Coldplay, the UK rock band, recently finished the Abu Dhabi leg of their Music of the Spheres world tour. The band performed four sold-out shows at Zayed Sports City Stadium on January 9th, 11th, 12th, and 14th.
The British group's performances, part of their acclaimed Music of the Spheres World Tour, were the only Middle Eastern stop on their schedule and set a record as the largest concert series ever held in the UAE.
Presented by Live Nation Middle East and supported by the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT), the concert series attracted over 200,000 attendees.
James Craven, President of Live Nation Middle East, commented: “At Live Nation Middle East, we are incredibly proud to host unforgettable events in the region. Bringing Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour to the UAE has been a privilege. Organizing the region's largest concert series reflects the dedication of our team, and we are deeply thankful for the support from the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), Miral, and the team at Zayed Sports City Stadium."
“We also extend our gratitude to the local media for their essential role in informing fans and ensuring the event's smooth operation. We are excited about future collaborations with Coldplay and other major artists, continuing to deliver iconic events in the region.”
Coldplay, formed in London in 1997 and fronted by Chris Martin, has become a global music icon, having sold over 100 million albums worldwide.
Ticket demand for Coldplay’s Abu Dhabi concerts was immense, with millions attempting to secure tickets. Initially scheduled as a single show, the overwhelming interest led the band to add three more dates, all of which sold out quickly.
To assist fans traveling from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Live Nation Middle East provided a complimentary park-and-ride service, along with return shuttles after the concert. To reduce congestion, parking was not permitted at the venue, and attendees were encouraged to bring reusable water bottles to take advantage of free water stations, aligning with the event’s sustainability efforts.
