DEWA, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, proudly presents its sustainable initiatives at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is actively engaging in four panel discussions during the World Future Energy Summit, hosted by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) from April 16th to 18th, 2024. This event serves as a platform to expedite sustainable development efforts and drive progress in economic, social, and environmental spheres. DEWA's participation underscores its commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives and fostering innovation in the pursuit of a more sustainable future.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is gearing up to take part in the upcoming World Future Energy Summit, scheduled to be hosted by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) from April 16th to 18th, 2024. This summit is dedicated to accelerating sustainable development efforts and fostering economic, social, and environmental advancement.

DEWA's participation will be marked by active involvement in four panel discussions during the summit, underscoring its dedication to sustainability, renewable energy, and innovative projects. Additionally, DEWA will showcase its key initiatives at its stand located in Hall No. 5 (Energy Hall) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). 

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, highlighted the visionary leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in propelling the UAE's renewable and clean energy investments forward. He emphasized, "DEWA's presence at the World Future Energy Summit reaffirms our dedication to backing national initiatives that prioritize sustainability and strengthens our strategic collaboration with Masdar."

Al Tayer further underscored DEWA’s pivotal role in driving the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, aiming for 100% of Dubai’s power production capacity to come from clean energy sources by 2050.

During the summit's inaugural day, Mohamed Abdulkarim Al Shamsi, DEWA's Chief Officer of Climate Change and Sustainability, will delve into the organization's sustainability initiatives and its transition towards clean energy. Mohammad Jame, Vice President of Clean Energy and Diversification at DEWA, will provide updates on renewable energy projects, particularly focusing on the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, recognized as the world's largest single-site solar park.

Dr. Hesham Ismail, Senior Manager of Technology Advancement and Demonstration at DEWA, will participate in the Green Hydrogen Summit, shedding light on DEWA's groundbreaking Green Hydrogen Project at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, a pioneering endeavor in the MENA region.

On the summit’s final day, Athbeh Al Shehhi, Senior Engineer at DEWA’s Climate Change and Sustainability department, will contribute to a panel discussion on the Youth 4 Sustainability platform, emphasizing the empowerment of Emirati youth and the cultivation of future sustainability leaders.

DEWA's active engagement in the World Future Energy Summit reaffirms its commitment to advancing sustainable practices, championing renewable energy solutions, and bolstering the UAE’s leadership in global climate action.
