Meteorological data from Lagos at the time suggests challenging weather conditions, including strong northward winds reaching up to 45 knots, likely resulting in tailwinds on runway 18L.

Additionally, there were reports of thunderstorms, rain, and reduced visibility. The extent of the aircraft's damage remains uncertain.

Social media images purportedly depicting the incident show the jet stopped on grass, with its nose touching the ground.

The aircraft, identified as 5N-BZZ by XE Jet, was originally delivered to US carrier Trans States Airlines in 2004. XE Jet is coordinating with Nigerian investigators and civil aviation authorities regarding the incident.
