Saudi Arabia's Red Sea International Film Festival Honors Six 'Women in Cinema'

Saudi Arabia's Red Sea International Film Festival honors six influential 'Women in Cinema' for their significant contributions to the film industry. This recognition highlights the impact and achievements of these female filmmakers in global cinema.

On Saturday in Cannes, six women who are reshaping the possibilities for future generations of female storytellers were honored.

This took place as Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival and Vanity Fair Europe hosted the “Women in Cinema” Gala at the Cannes Film Festival.

The event attracted celebrities from Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Egypt, Italy, India, and the US.

Lucy Hale, actor:

"Hell, yeah. It's the best. It's amazing. I think it feels like an honor, actually. Red Sea is especially significant for highlighting women from the Arab and African communities, and for telling those stories and perspectives. It's very special, so I'm happy to support it."

The 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival opened on May 14. Out of 2,000 submissions, 19 feature films were selected for the official competition. The festival concludes on May 25, with the prestigious Palme d'Or being announced.
