Vietnam Airlines Launches Premium Economy Class on Domestic Flights

Vietnam Airlines has introduced premium economy class across all domestic flights, providing passengers with upgraded comfort and enhanced services. This new offering includes spacious seating, improved amenities, and a more relaxing travel experience, catering to those seeking a balance between luxury and affordability. By expanding premium economy to domestic routes, the airline aims to elevate customer satisfaction and set a new standard for air travel within Vietnam, ensuring a superior journey for all travelers.

Vietnam Airlines is elevating its domestic travel experience by introducing premium economy class across its entire internal network starting January 14th. While the airline has offered premium economy on select routes for nearly six years, this expansion ensures all domestic passengers can now enjoy enhanced comfort and amenities.

The new premium economy fares include priority check-in and boarding, spacious seating, upgraded onboard catering, and flexible ticket options. Passengers also benefit from luggage allowances equal to business class, with one 32 kg checked bag and 18 kg of hand luggage. However, on regional ATR 72 flights, the baggage limits are reduced to 23 kg and 7 kg respectively.

Vietnam Airlines offers two premium economy tariffs: Classic and Flex, with Flex providing greater flexibility. These fares have previously been described as delivering a near business-class experience, excluding the seat, with perks like lounge access, welcome drinks, hot meals, and an upgraded entertainment system.

Initially launched in July 2019 on Ho Chi Minh City-Hanoi flights operated by Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s, the class has since proven popular. The A350 features 36 premium economy seats in a 2-4-2 configuration, while the 787 has 35 seats in a 2-3-2 layout.

Vietnam, with its population of over 100 million, boasts a vast domestic aviation market. This January alone, 19,013 domestic flights are scheduled across four carriers: Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, Bamboo, and Vietravel. Vietnam Airlines leads the market, operating more than 10,000 flights, offering nearly 1.9 million seats. Major routes include Ho Chi Minh City-Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City-Da Nang, and Hanoi-Da Nang.
