Boston Brand Media brings you the latest news - Private equity firm Blackstone (BX.N) is close to finalizing a deal to sell Japanese supplement maker Alinamin Pharmaceutical to North Asian buyout fund MBK Partners for 350 billion yen ($2.17 billion), according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter on Tuesday.

The source, who wished to remain anonymous due to the confidential nature of the information, stated that the deal is expected to be signed soon. MBK, Blackstone, and Alinamin all declined to comment.

In August 2020, Blackstone agreed to acquire Alinamin, which was then a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical (4502.T), as announced by the private equity firm at the time. The Nikkei first reported on Tuesday that Blackstone plans to sell Alinamin.

Boston Brand Media also found that according to the Nikkei, MBK intends to leverage its expertise in consumer goods acquisitions to enhance Alinamin's value. Previously known as Takeda Consumer Healthcare Co, Alinamin offers over-the-counter medicines in Japan.

Following Blackstone's takeover, the company established a unit in Taiwan and boosted its overseas sales, according to the Nikkei.
