Frank Shrontz, a trailblazing leader at Boeing known for implementing significant changes, dies at 92. His tenure marked a period of transformative leadership within the company, leaving a lasting impact on the aerospace industry.

Former Boeing CEO and Chairman Frank Shrontz, whose tenure saw pivotal developments like the 747-400 and 777, passed away at 92 on May 3. Under his leadership from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s, Boeing transitioned into a global aerospace entity, culminating in the acquisition of Rockwell and merger with McDonnell Douglas.

Shrontz joined Boeing in 1958, bringing legal and business acumen from the University of Idaho and Harvard. After governmental roles, he returned to Boeing in 1977. As president of various divisions, he ascended to president of Boeing in 1985 and later became CEO and chairman until 1996.

His tenure marked the launch of significant products like the 737-400 and 777, which saw Boeing's commercial success soar. Shrontz fostered a cultural shift at Boeing towards collaboration and openness, leaving a lasting legacy that his successors embraced.

Following retirement, he became chairman emeritus and also had ownership in the Seattle Mariners baseball team.
