Caught on Camera: Farmer Escapes as Wild Siberian Tiger Hits Gate

A Chinese farmer narrowly escapes a wild Siberian tiger crashing into his farm gate, a dramatic wildlife moment captured on camera.

A Siberian tiger crashed into a farm gate in China, injuring a farmer who had barely managed to close the gate moments before the impact. Surveillance footage from Heilongjiang province captured the chilling scene as the tiger rammed the gate just seconds after the farmer escaped.

The dramatic encounter, widely shared on social media, has sparked concerns among both residents and authorities in the region. According to Reuters, this incident is one of several recent tiger sightings, prompting local officials to issue warnings to residents.

A 65-year-old farmer named Zhao required surgery to save his left hand after sustaining injuries during the attack. Zhao’s son alleged that two tigers were roaming freely, but authorities have yet to confirm the number or whether the animals were captured.

Officials have urged locals to report tiger sightings, protect their livestock, and remain vigilant, especially during dawn and dusk when tigers are most active. Notices distributed in the area advise residents to secure their animals, organise patrols, and avoid close contact with the tigers.

While Siberian tigers are generally not aggressive and can coexist with humans, officials stress the importance of taking precautions to avoid risky encounters. China has about 70 wild Siberian tigers, a protected species, and established the Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park in 2021 to conserve their habitat.

In a separate incident in New Jersey, a woman narrowly avoided losing her hand after breaching safety barriers at a zoo’s tiger enclosure. Footage from the Cohanzick Zoo showed the tiger lunging at her hand, but she managed to pull away just in time.
